30 May Top 10 Beaches in the U.S. According To Dr. Beach

Each year, Dr. Beach or Dr. Stephen Leatherman ranks his Top 10 Beaches in the U.S. based on a set of 50 criteria. Dr. Beache’s criteria include many environmental factors alongside the physical characteristics of the beach; some of which are sand quality, odor, condition or variation, currents, and safety records.

This year the list Florida boasted the most beaches to make Dr. Leatherman’s top 10 list with Siesta Beach taking the cake for the #1 Beach in The U.S.

The 2017 top 10 list of beaches are as follows:

10. Beachwalker Park Kiawah Island, South Carolina

9. Coronado Beach, San Diego, California

8. Hapuna Beach State Park, Big Island, Hawaii

7. Caladesi Island State Park Dunedin/Clearwater, Florida

6. Coast Guard Beach, Cape Cod, Massachusetts

5. Coopers Beach, Southampton, New York

4. Grayton Beach State Park Florida panhandle

3. Ocracoke Lifeguarded Beach, Outer Banks of North Carolina

2. Kapalua Bay Beach, Maui, Hawaii

1. Siesta Beach Sarasota, Florida
